Class felt Awesome!

Current mood: Ecstatic.

Although it wasn't really healthy, I spent most of the night doing my Illustrator assignment.

I did sleep though! Don't worry about that.

My selfishness won't allow me to go a day without a decent shut-eye.

I'm happy to say that I entered class that morning with my assignment 80% done.

Because I did it at my own time and without competition, I was able to focus on what I like best.

I would want to post what I did but when I converted the .ai into .jpg, the colours tone down somehow.

But no worries!

I'll try my best in the future.

I'm also having fun playing with photoshop again.

Technologized

Something extremely exciting happened today!
Because of okaa-san's utmost concern over my inability to do my best in my Computer Application in Art & Design assignment, I was given a huge surprise the day prior to this.
Uncle Salem generously decided to lend money for me to be able to buy a laptop.
I'm so grateful!

Well, anyway...
The story of today...

The day started out slightly cloudy with chilly air.
The thought of downpour kept lingering in my mind as I prepared for class.

My towel got awfully wet today so I hung it out to dry. The sky didn't look promising but I took the chance anyway.
After class, I sent Aneki a message using Alang's phone.
Aneki called me and I was told to go to Berjaya Time Square.

We ate a number of things there.

After eating we went to one of Hafiz-oppa's friend's shop and chose a laptop for me
The person there offered to do all the installation of the softwares I wanted.
My main priority at this moment:
-Adobe Illustrator CS2
-Adobe InDesign CS2
Since that's the software that's being used in my class.
Originally, I wanted to use Windows XP Professional but because this laptop is Compaq, it supported Windows Vista better. Ah well, something new for me to explore.
It's said that Windows Vista offers a more upgraded and easier user-interface but I'm a bit perplexed by how to work it at the moment.
I'll get better in the future.

Here's what a part of the shop looked like. It's not so messy but the perspective made it look that way.

The final price of everything, including Aneki's webcam, my bluetooth, Kaspersky and some other, is RM 1,888. I think it's a good price since the laptop came with headphones, optical mouse, cooling pad, an upgraded ram, software installation, etc.

I immediately set up the laptop once I arrived home. It is very exciting to know that many kind of Adobe has been installed in here. I'm so thankful.

I'll try to take a better picture of my laptop in the future.
At the moment, I'm exploring Adobe Illustrator CS3 as well as doing my Comp App in Art&Design assignment.
It's like murdering two birds with one bullet.
Or something.

This and That

Because I haven't updated in forever

-as the term goes-

Here be another random moment.

First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my understanding okaa-san.

The Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English that she gave me has been continously praised (as I was told) by Kak Long's lecturer.

No, not our Kedah Kak Long. My Kelantan Kak Long.

Because Kak Long is taking a degree, she doesn't have to learn basic english. The english she is learning is more difficult even to me. So, I lent her the dictionary to take to her class when she asked for it.

Her lecturer was delighted when he saw the worn-out state of the dictionary because it meant that it was always used.

*proud feeling*

Kak Long says he has been praising the book every time in class when she brings it.

In actuality, the dictionary isn't helping her improve her english but I like the fact that someone else other than me appreciates the worn out look.

That said, let's get on with other random things:

KL Adventure from my lenses

The other day...

Aneki and I went on an expedition around KLCC. In one of my previous posts, I recapped the exciting journey through the lenses of her Cybershot.

I only put up the ones where we got into petrosains and the sky bridge so it's not all complete.

It was around the mini mirror section where you get to study reflection and all that.

Apparently, Aneki decided that she wanted to have a career change for a few minutes so we went to work at an oil platform.

Like I said before, it was a long day.

Naming Intelligence(EDIT)

The previous post was very depressing in my opinion. Perhaps it was because now is 'that' time of the month.

So with a very apologetic heart, I want okaa-san and all who was effected by the post to know that I'm sorry for sounding like a selfish child.

Speaking of child...

because of my extreme child-like temperament(sp?)

for I am not childish. I am child-like.

I have received the honorary title of 'adik' in our lopsided hostel family.

Kak Amy, who unconditionally became the head of the house because of her age and education level, is now being referred to as Kak Long.

This came about around the time I asked her what I should refer her 'husband' as. That man unknowingly is being called Abg Long by us at the moment.

Second in command, it turns out was Farah.

Later the night of today, she announced that she was to be called Kak Su. Of all names.

As for Kak Anis, who disliked being called Kak Uda, as it sounds nearly the same as the malay word for horse, claims to be our Kak Ngah since Farah decided on the 'Kak Su' title.

To keep a semblance of respect, not that I needed it, the younger ones will call me 'Kak Adik' as a sign that I am unforgettably older than them. Although this might be a show of respect, I feel as if I'm being mocked.

I'm not minding it at all.

Originally, Kak Anis was to be called Kak Lang but then in a different discussion where she wasn't present, Yana decided she wanted the title. So it became hers. Just because she's adorable.

BTW, I found out Yana shared the same bloodtype as Heechul, Yesung and Sasuke.

'Anje', the name that Kak Amy had exposed to us prior last night, will be used to call Sal. It was what her family called her and Sal isn't very proud of it. She said she'll commit Domestic Violence if we call her that at college.

Isha...is achik because she's the youngest.

Still Here

Here's me informing everyone I'm still alive.

No one calls anyone anymore

Whoa! Internet's so difficult to get here.

There's like already five laptops/notebooks here but no one had broadband until today.

Kak Anis and Farah has been nice enough to let me go crazy on their laptops these past few days and I'm really thankful.

It's actually a difficult time for me now because I have my Computer Application in Art & Design assignment that I really hope to work hard on. I have to do a magazine to pass my Final Exam. My lecturer is willing to give the Adobe Illustration installation CD to those who bring their laptops to class. I can't do that because, apparently, I don't have one and she won't allow students to bring the CD back home. Not that I will anyway since, well, no laptop and all that.

I'm kind of green with envy when the others come into class with beautiful designs that they made at home while I have to do my assignments in class while the lecturer is teaching. With the rushed detailing I did, I don't think I've gotten an above average mark in my first assignment.

It's a matter of waiting since Okaa-san has financial problems but I somehow feel that I'm not able to give my all in most of my assignments.

It's tiring these days and depression sinks in at times.

I'm always hungry.

They're always feeding me but it's like my stomach has turned into a blackhole.

Lately though, Seobang a.k.a, my young-prince-who-is-not-young-anymore-in-my-eyes has been lifting some of my tattered spirits.

He, himself, isn't really so well off. Sudden culture shock does that.

Homesickness, we both are feeling it but I can still manage.

Becuase of the travelling my housemates and I have to do every week, most of us look as if we've seen better days. There's already been outburst and tears and shouts but we're still holding on.

It's just a matter of time.

Oh yeah, it seems I won't be able to go to that Suju blood donation thing because Kak Amy and I don't have a sapphire blue T-shirt.

Of Movies and Transforming

I watched Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen last Monday!

My housemate, Yana, and I went to KLCC the other day because I had a craving for Dunkin Donuts after seeing a picture of mannequin-me in front of the store. On a whim, I asked Yana if she wanted to go see a movie with me and she agreed after a 0.01 second of thought.

Since Transformer 2 was the new black in the Cinemas and it received overwhelming reviews from close people *coughnee-chancough*, I decided on that.

Yana paid for the tickets, which by the way cost RM 11 because it was such a big effing hit, and I offered to wait in line. Around 4.30, after an exciting visit to Kinokuniya again where I purchased a screentone and Silver Diamond vol 3, we sought our seats
